GMB National NewsLocal Government Pay 2007 - Employers hope to pay back pay before Christmas - Following GMB's membership consultation on the 2007 Local Government NJC pay offer other trade unions have now reached their decisions. The offer was 2.475% with a new minimum hourly rate of £6 - all to be backdated to 1st April. The lowest rate will rise from £11,193 to £11,577 per annum from 1st april 2007. GMB members voted to accept this offer, as did Unite TGWU members. Unison held a strike ballot and although this resulted in a small majority to take strike action they have decided not to proceed. All NJC unions have therefore confrimed that they accept the employer's offer. Further details and payscales can be found in the latest GMB Local Government Bulletin and NJC Circular. There is also a special Local Government Pay Q&A. For information about national campaigns and press releases go to the GMB website www.gmb.org.uk
